Why don't we remind ourselves of that often? God as creator and with the power to sustain life everywhere and inanimate things also, and hold all things together. If we affirm these things it increases our faith when we pray for ourselves and others in sickness and in need, because we bring our petitions to a great God.
This is what is omitted today: the recognition of Almighty God. This is about God’s majesty and power. You make particular mention of that. ‘Thou, even thou, art Lord alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.’ It is about the majesty of God and his power.
