The warning continues: ‘Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen. Thou art greatly despised.
That is how it is with us also. Life is short. The years are passing by. I am getting older, and I feel vulnerable. There may be a God in heaven, and if so I am going to have to face him in judgment, and I am completely unprepared. God warns the human race about spiritual things, and when that warning comes home to us we are deeply disturbed. It strikes at the root of our security. But we are at war with God, and in in our effort to resist his message we try to ignore his warnings and argue against them, and we do our best to convince ourselves that we are in no great danger. It is a battle we fight every day of our lives, if we have not bowed the knee to God. So we read of the reaction of Edom.
