This verse may bother you at first sight. This is one of the four verses that does not superficially seem to be about fellowship, but in fact it is.
So if you want to promote fellowship and deepen relationships, be helpful people, have good will. Fellowship seeks to prepare the way for itself. This is an honourable expression of the gift, if you like, to always be available and ready to help out, do a favour. Notice when somebody has a need of assistance. That’s your opportunity and that sows a bond of fellowship. So fellowship prepares the way, and if there is no good will like that, then fellowship will be much harder. The observation is applied in a much more wholesome way to fellowship.
