The man in this proverb is very similar to the last, but this time the focus is on the distorted love of self-expression that obstructs any real effort to gain understanding. Of course the proverb looks under the surface because the fool would never admit this fault.
It is dangerous for a man to start to teach too early in his spiritual life. The store of knowledge that he has is too small and yet the devil is likely to trick him into thinking that he has progressed faster and farther than others. This may be true in rare cases, but they are exceptional. Paul’s rule is ‘not a novice’.
