These are the consequences of receiving God’s word as described in verse 1 and the following verses. The whole chapter has been about the enormous benefit of being delivered the various snares of temptation by the wisdom that God teaches. We will keep to the paths of the righteous, because we will be given insight into the techniques that sin uses to turn us aside. Understanding them better, we will not be taken in by their lies but will have a stability to hold on to the paths of truth. As Christians who have been released from the power of sin, we may meet various enemies along the way, but they do not have the power to force us out of the way. They can only lure us to leave the path, but by Solomon’s counsel we will be able to refuse their invitations.
