This happens at conversion. God will give us new knowledge and insight, bring to life the conscience.
The Christian life is an enlightened life, a satisfying life, a pleasant life, a safe life, and if we make the progress that we should with God’s help, it will be increasingly so. Wonderfully, the righteousness and judgment, the wisdom which enters the heart, knowledge which is pleasant for the individual to have and the discretion which preserves us from falling and warns us when we are in danger; all these are given to us but they become our own. We are constantly being changed by the Lord and added to. This is not so that we become self-sufficient – we will always need to depend on the Lord – but we are growing in a wonderful way so that we have new strengths, greater stability, more usefulness in his service, and we become ever more like our Lord. This is the wonderful progress that the Christian makes in this life.
