There follows in this chapter, or the first portion of it, a block of proverbs that are undoubtedly about truth, and various aspects and applications of the truth of the word of God, and verse one is very clearly an introduction to a new theme. And it tells us that the proverbs that follow belong to a group of proverbs that the men of Hezekiah, his scribes, copied out, some people think, from oral tradition, but more likely from manuscripts that were worn and a scroll that was worn and needed replacement, and the scribes of Hezekiah had the task of doing that.
