Solomon in this proverb closes off another way of escape for the fool. He cannot adopt the language of the wise and hope to thereby become wise himself.
Let the fool acknowledge his folly and forsake it. Let him not hold on to his foolish principles and try to enhance his life with a little wisdom which he can use to show off or to earn respect among the wise. Let him go to the fountain of wisdom, the source of all wisdom, the Lord Jesus Christ, and let him confess his sins and sincerely repent. Let him not perform a partial character reformation and assume the cover of wisdom as a smokescreen.
