The next two proverbs address the subject of boasting. Solomon looks first at boasting about future opportunities and achievements, and reminds us of the lack of integrity that is always involved just because we do not know what the future will bring.
Yes, we may future plans, but we are careful to remember that they are full of ignorance, and can easily be overturned. How could we possibly take over from the Lord the task of running this world, of deciding what is best? How could we bring providential lessons which teach wisdom? How could we bring about the humbling of the ungodly and the destruction of Satan? But we thank God that we have a place in his purpose and that all the way through life he loves his children, those who have come to him in repentance and faith.
