The unstated contrast is with the child of God who looks to the Lord for his security and remains at peace because he is confident that God cares for all his needs.
He who hastens after wealth in this life as if it could secure all happiness, is chasing an illusion and will trip and fall. He has mistaken something of limited value for what has abiding and eternal value – the truth of God. Because of this serious mistake or moral error, he will experience catastrophe sooner or later. He tried to get security, but ended up guaranteeing his own downfall.
