This father is not going to be bothered to correct the boy who works in the neighbour's smallholding. It is not his task and his duty to correct every boy in the vicinity; it is his own boy he is concerned with.
If there is in your Christian life this frequent moving of conscience, this loss of peace, this realisation that you are wrong, this reproof sometimes from friends, from fellow church members; if these things go on, then in a way you have reason to rejoice. Put those things right but rejoice: God is dealing with you. The time to fear is when you realise you don't have any experience of this. But if this is all double-Dutch to you: ‘God correcting me? Feeling bad about this, feeling reproved about that sometimes? Oh, I believe I am a Christian and ever since I came to Christ 20 years ago I have been happy, happy, happy.’ Well, that is almost a sure proof that you are unconverted, you haven't got a loving heavenly Father dealing with you.
