The word translated confidence, actually is a Hebrew term which means meat, plenty, provision, abundance. It is used in the sense that the Lord shall be the source of all your help and spiritual prosperity, and abundance. Your trust will be in him, and he shall keep your foot from being snared. ‘Taken’ is a translation of the Hebrew for ‘snared’, taken by surprise; that is the sense, and that word reminds us that the devil is against us and seeking to bring down every human being, and that is why we need the guidance of the word of God and the blessing of the Lord.
