And then comes the final application in this verse – ‘Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.’ Do not contend with him is meant here. Do not accuse him falsely, and slander him, or bring charges against him. Why do we have a war with God, when he would save us and bless us and take us to heaven, when Christ came and suffered and died for us on Calvary’s cross, why do we have a war with God? Because of our sinfulness, because we love darkness rather than light. This is the application.
