Proverbs 30:29

Lastly, we are given four images of strength and majesty. After all we have seen in the Book of Proverbs, it would be inexcusable not to make a spiritual application of these. Nor do they relate only to one category of human beings – kings – as if God’s word rises no higher than the earth in its application. These majestic images are illustrative of every child of God, for indeed Christ has made us kings and priests unto God and his Father. This strength, this stately majesty is not therefore a natural attribute, but a gift of the Spirit which is ours through the new birth. It is given to us forever and the world cannot take it from us. A true Christian is a glorious being, one who has overcome enemies too strong for him, who has risen from the lowest depths to the heights of heaven. What we are is not yet seen, and what we shall be has not yet appeared, but when Christ appears, we will be raised up to glory like his. God’s people are the possessors of all things by inheritance. They have strength not their own but given them by God who is able to give power to those who have no power. They have prevailed over Satan, over sin, over death and over hell. They have received a name which is theirs forevermore: the name of sons and daughters of the living God.
