Here is the illustration, ‘Take fast hold’, in other words, when you have a perfect partner, you hold and embrace that partner, by implication for ever. You do not want this to come to an end, and so it is with salvation. When you come to Christ, it is not just for today or for tomorrow, or for just a year or two. Consciously you give him all your life. This is for now and eternity, and you live in the light of that. I have embraced Christ for ever, you say. It would be so easy to let go of the things of God, because the devil is against us, and the world is against us, and there are all kinds of pressures and allurements trying to draw us off the track, and we have to consciously embrace the wonders and the blessings and the virtues of salvation.
