So the way of salvation is completely different in thinking, in objectives, in desires, in commitment, in priority from the life of the worldling, and that is emphasised here. Look at the degree to which this is true. As far as that district gang is concerned, ‘For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.’ The idea is they are so in the pocket of their fallen ways that they cannot be happy, unless they are successful in those ways. The purpose is destruction: destruction of morals, destruction of the gospel and its servants, destruction of God.
