Proverbs 5:1 Commentary and Bible Study

The emphasis of this verse as we can easily see is that wisdom is something which has to be appreciated and listened out for. This is very interesting because it is something which has gone out of modern life, as so many other things have just disappeared. How often do we find ourselves admiring wisdom? Think about it even in the political sphere. How often, when we are discussing or listening to the news, do we think, if something is well done, ‘Now that reflects acumen or wisdom'? How often do we respond and admire and appreciate something which is wise, something which reveals real depth and thought? I know there is very little of it about but how often do we watch for it and appreciate it? Just like some people have a taste for objects of beauty, objects of art, some people have a taste for beautiful prose or poetry, some people have a taste for fine engineering and it excites them and they appreciate it. How many of us have a taste for wisdom? Says the word of God here, in order to gain wisdom we need to have a taste for it. Somebody who does something wisely should be the kind of person we respond to and admire far more than a piece of engineering or a piece of art or something of that kind.
