Proverbs 5:7 Commentary and Bible Study

Solomon is not speaking just to children, he is speaking tenderly to all age groups, but he is indicating the feeling of the Lord. It is as though you are my children, and I care for you, and it grieves me to see any one of you, whether you are in teenage years, or in your twenties or forties, sold out to the lies of this present world. So he uses this endearing term – ‘Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.’ Which means listen to me, it is as though I am talking to you individually and personally. I am not writing a general circular, I am appealing to each one by word of mouth, and you can draw close and hear.
