I assume an ant has a brain, but if it has, it is certainly quite small. With her microscopic brain power, and thinking power she still has more sense than you, because you are not thinking of the long term situation at all. You are not really thinking about life and how you are going to live it. You are not thinking about God and the purpose of life. You are not thinking about what you are, a human being, not an animal, made in the image of God, made to relate to God. You are not thinking about the future, the winter, eternity if you like. What happens in old age, what happens to your soul after death? Even the ant can think about the future as well as today. The person who will not act on spiritual things, the person who will not go to God and seek the Lord, and cry out for forgiveness; that person who puts it off and will not think about these things is in need of instruction from a tiny ant. It is that foolish, it is that mindless, it is that absurd to think nothing of the purpose of life. Does that describe us? That is the thrust of what he is saying.
