Proverbs 7:21

The language suggests that he knew this was wrong. He didn't really want to be drawn in this way. He knew he was being pushed beyond that which he should do, but then he yields and once he yields, he goes straightaway as an ox goeth to the slaughter. Here it is, the ox, what a stubborn and obstinate animal it is. And the farmer wants it to go into the place where it is going to be slaughtered and they push and shove and the ox won't go, but the experienced handler knows that after a while when the ox seemingly thinks it is doing this entirely of his own volition and no-one is pushing it, it will suddenly rush into the place where it is going to be slaughtered. The ox doesn't realise that it is exactly what they wanted it to do in the first place.
Application
You are being manipulated if you are away from God, manipulated by the devil, manipulated by the world. It may be that you were the most rebellious person imaginable through your youth and nobody could tell you what to do. And you think you do exactly what you want to do, but you are being manipulated and, like that ox, all of a sudden you will rush right into the very place where they want you. That is the picture of Solomon.
