The word of God is very powerful in all temptation. Make the word of God your best pleasure. You know, if you are reading the word of God daily – not just superficially but giving it that proper amount of time as a Christian person studying it, looking forward to it daily and getting what advice and help you can to enjoy it and to plumb its depths – if you are drawing from the word of God and this is your delight, this is your companionship with God, it makes it much easier for you to resist those temptations and it weakens the force of all those things that would draw you aside. If we do this, the regular use of the word of God will break the force of the attractiveness of sin and change your view. So often friends say, ‘What can I do? Certain ambitions, even sensual lusts, have been so strong at times.’ Yes, but the Scripture, the word of God says to us, 'Keep me in your heart, value me, read me, enjoy me, make me your central pleasure', and you will be amazed how some of that force will be shattered and broken.
