Proverbs 7:8 Commentary and Bible Study

Immediately we are introduced here to this woman mentioned in verse 5, the strange woman, the prostitute who flatters with her words. In verse 8 this youth is heading to where she lives. The majority of commentators conclude that at this point he is unaware of the significance of the direction he is going in. You could read it as though he knows about this woman but it would not tie up with the description of him, a young man void of understanding. It suggests that he is now heading through the street, near the corner, near her corner where this particular prostitute functions and operates, and he is unaware of the trap which is being set for him and the position he is in. He is aimless, he is just wandering around. All these observations, by the way, are very important. He is open; he is young; he is aimless. He doesn't really know where he is going or why he is going there, he is just wandering.
