Proverbs 8:8

They are morally right, they are the absolute standards from God. No false words from God, no hidden agenda. God is entirely genuine in everything he says. One of the wonderful things about God's word is that there is not one false word from God. The world, depicted by that adulteress, lies constantly. God never does that. All the things God says to us are said from perfect motives.Here is another pre-requisite for growing in grace and in wisdom, for advancing in knowledge. Do not try to mix truth with things that are wrong. You cannot drink from dissimilar streams. If you try to learn from the word, and yet engage and involve yourself in worldly things and wrong things too, then the supply of wisdom will cut right off. You will not get taught from the word of God, the Holy Spirit will not activate your mind if you are dabbling in wrong things that are an abomination to the Lord.
Application
No wonder that the churches that engage in worldliness generally speaking have such poor teaching. You cannot have good teaching and two-time the Lord. It is not possible. He will not co-operate. He will not give you riches of spiritual understanding and wisdom if you are dodging out to worldly entertainment. You have got to be on his track alone, because he abominates the things that do not come from him. So the pre-requisite for advance is to keep our lives clean and straight and following after the things that God approves of.
