That great redeemed multitude already seen in chapter 7 now expresses their praise to the majesty of God. This is the greatest choir which is conceivable, and every one of the saints is in it.
God is omnipotent. The Greek means ‘all’ joined to the word meaning ‘force’, ‘strength’, ‘might’ or ‘power’. The saints are certain of this when they see the destruction of all God’s enemies in a way that strips them of all power to resist. Their defeat is so comprehensive, so calculated, so easily accomplished that it is not possible to draw any other conclusion than that God is omnipotent. Did Satan consider this when he chose to set himself against the Lord, to outwit God and to trap the Most High in a corner from which he could not escape? How greatly he has miscalculated! Pride always overreaches itself. Truly in Satan’s case, pride comes before a fall. How safe the saints will feel under the reign of One who is omnipotent.
