The speaker is probably one of the cherubim, the four cherubim of justice that guard the throne of God. Those called to the marriage supper of the Lamb are not different individuals to the members of the church, the bride herself.
This is an invitation that will never be withdrawn. It is an invitation to a feast which never ends, for the pleasures at God’s right hand will expand into eternity. They are not pleasures of the body only, but pleasures of the soul. There will be pleasures of the understanding and of the thoughts, for we will grasp things beyond our capacity to grasp now, as our minds are liberated from the limitations that hold them back here. The greatest mysteries of the word of God will be accessible to us. We will bask in the love of our Lord and will never again doubt his love towards us. He will not then hide his affection behind a frown that we find hard to interpret. We will have fellowship with him as we did not have it before on earth and it will be true that, ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love him’ (1 Corinthians 2:9).
These are the true sayings of God. This is not some imaginary invention of Christians, but the truth revealed of God who cannot lie. This is something which we should not be afraid to look forward to for fear of disappointment, as if it were somehow too wonderful to ever actually happen. It is the solemn promise of God to his people, the God who has never broken a single promise that he has made, whose word is more certain that the continuance of the heaven and earth.
