‘The four living creatures [these angels, or cherubim of justice] had each of them six wings’ – that comes straight out of Isaiah 6 as does what follows. The six wings identify these creatures with the seraphim of Isaiah 6.
God has given us more than we can measure to fuel our worship. Worship is not a matter of working up praise to God in our hearts from nowhere. It is a matter of studying what he has told us about himself, and believing him. If we do this, worship must flow out of our hearts and it must be genuine. If we only got this far in learning from this passage, it would be tremendous. That is the greatest comfort and encouragement and strength to us, every day of the week. We need our souls to be filled with a fresh realisation of the might and the eternity and the power of God.
