The great crowd in heaven are from different nations, kindred, peoples and tongues and on earth many would not understand each other’s language, but now they speak with one voice in praising God. The division of languages is gone in heaven, for the rebellion that occurred at the tower of Babel will never happen again. The gift of tongues was among other things a prelude to this united worship of the nations and the reversal of Babel.In heaven there is inexpressible joy for the people of God as they worship before the throne. They cry with a loud voice for they desire all creation to hear them. Our praise to God is driven in part by a desire to have stir up others to worship the Lord. Those who love him cannot bear that God should be deprived of the worship of any rational creature.Salvation belongs to God in the sense that only he is the author of it, only he can provide it. The great theme of worship for the saints is the salvation they have received. Each one of them is only there at all, because God has brought them there. As they breathe the atmosphere of heaven, the glorious freedom, the sense of victory over all evil, the unfolding opportunity of discovery, the access to incomparable treasures; as they consider the unshakeable security, the never-ending future, the care and love of a heavenly Father, the closeness to Christ himself; all this is because of the salvation they have received in Christ.
