If you had somebody listening in who was your enemy, somebody who wished to spread some slander about you, they would be unable to find it. Your speech is sound. Healthy words. You didn't slander anybody yourself; you didn't rail at somebody and lose your temper. You didn't gossip or lie about somebody. You were not vindictive towards anybody. They couldn't think of anything to say against you. ‘Oh I listened in to that man speaking to such and such a person, and none of those ugly things I had been told about were present in him and in his conversation.’ We have got to guard against that and pray against that so carefully, so that even the person who is against us, has no evil thing to say of us. In fact he begins to feel by the work of the Spirit, rather ashamed that he ever believed it of us.
