Titus 3:12

Then there is a third positive which we see here in verse 12. ‘When I shall send Artemas unto thee or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis, for I have determined there to winter.’ What a fascinating verse. It seems that Artemas or Tychicus were to be the next pastor at Crete, and that Titus was to be called back by the apostle to be at his side, to accompany him. ‘When I shall send [one all the other].’ The Lord hadn't yet indicated which, but they would come, it would appear, to take over from Titus. And Titus was to go to Nicopolis with Paul. Which Nicopolis, because there were several cities of that name, is a matter for debate. What was he going to do there? Presumably begin a church there, as he always did. ‘For I have determined there to winter.’ It sounds as though Paul is taking a holiday. I don’t think the apostle Paul ever took a holiday. No, he went there to plant a church, surely. So there’s just an insight into his movements.
